Lafayette-Orinda Presbyterian Church (925-283-8890) as the place to meet a partner of similar interests and ideals. The 23-year-old organization is not a matchmaking service but a social outlet for more than 4,500 single adults in the East Bay. Islanders is a social and service organization, designed for singles between 35 and 45 years old, that provides a safe harbor for the development of friendships, personal growth, and relationships through informational programs and social activities. Although it is an outreach program of the Singles Ministry of Lafayette-Orinda Presbyterian Church, it is open to people of all faiths.  The success of Islanders depends on the participation. Volunteers help sponsor 30 to 60 social and service events every month. Single Parent Support Group 6:30 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. - Mondays - Room 3 Led by trained facilitators Liz Hannigan and Cliff Crain. Child care is provided. Cost $3.00. Calvary Temple, Concord, Highlife: Single Adult Ministry, 4725 Evora Rd., Concord. (Just off Hwy. 4 and Willow Pass). Their ministry has three groups: the ROCK for ages 40 +; the GAP for ages 26- 40; and CUTTING EDGE for ages 18-25. All meet together on Sundays for class at 11:30 am in fellowship hall with an average of 150 people. After church, they gather for lunch. One time activities include barbecues, hikes, and dinners. Ongoing activities include a Tuesday Bible study, 7 pm, at Sam's place, 363-1985. The CUTTING EDGE Group meets on Wednesday night for study and fellowship. Their Singles Parent's Home group meets on the 2nd Sat. of the month for study and fellowship for the parents and activities for the kids. One time activities include barbecues, hikes, and dinners. Highlife has two big special activities: Friday Night Lives and Game Nights. They attract up to 150 adults and even more kids. The Friday Night Lives are for singles and their children with games, food and supervision for the kids, and separate games and food for the adults. The next two are on 7/28 and 9/29. Big Game Nights offers more for younger singles with Basketball, Volleyball, and Foosball. Board games are also included, though, for older singles. The next Game Night is on 8/25.  On the first and third Thursday of the month the Highlife group gathers for dinner at IHOP Restaurant in Martinez on the corner of Morello and Arnold Drive at 7 pm. CROSSWINDS CHURCH, SINGLE ADULT MINISTRY, 6444 Sierra Ct., Dublin. Their Single Adult Ministry has its FOCUS meeting every Sun. except the last one, at 10:15 am in rm. 201. They also gather for F.N.L. (Friday Night Lite) once or twice a month. F.N.L. is a light-hearted evening of fun and fellowship. EVANGELICAL FREE CHURCH OF WALNUT CREEK, 2303 Ygnacio Valley Rd., Walnut Creek. Two Groups for singles. THIRSTQUENCHERS - Ages 20s to 40s meet on Sundays, 11 am in the Worship Center, rm. 116, next to the Chapel. They also have a Tuesday Bible Study at 7:15 in Worship Center, rm. 116, plus social and special activities. WALNUT CREEK PRESBYTERIAN Church, 1801 Lacassie Ave., Walnut Creek. They have three singles groups: INNERCHANGE ,  Sun. 11:45 am, rm. 305. Designed for singles in the 20s and 30s. S.A.L.T. is for the +35 age range and meets in rm. 305, Sun. at 10:30 am. NEW HORIZONS is for those over 50. They meet on Sun. in rm. 305 at 10:30 am These groups go out to lunch after Sun. classes and have weekly Bible studies and special events. A sample of events includes: hikes, other sport activities, movie nights, dinners, and outreach ministries. Dual events for all the groups are also held. Zion Fellowship, Danville   "His Treasures" Single Women's Ministry hosts events for single women (and some for both men and women) with a guest speaker once a month. The group is a place of safety where singles can be "real" with one another, resting in God's unconditional love, receiving His healing, and growing into whole women on the way to all that He has planned. SINGLE MOMS, A support group for single moms at Crossroads Covenant Church, 5353 Concord Blvd., Concord. They meet at 6:30 pm, Tues. at the church. They offer support in a relaxed, casual setting. Sue Fullmore is the leader. Sessions will include crucial issues to single moms including parenting, budgeting, discipline ideas, and spiritual guidance. Free child care.
